How do I install a conversion pixel?
- Both the instructions and your unique variables will be linked in your Implementation Checklist. Your unique variables can also be found under Configuration → Conversion Tags.
What does the Mavrck conversion pixel do?
- The Mavrck conversion pixel enables our platform to track a specific action (e.g. conversion or sign-up) driven by an influencer in your program.
Note: Only brands with their own sites can install conversion pixels. Brands selling/linking to products on other sites (Amazon, Walmart, etc.) should look into the retailer-specific Affiliate Marketing programs to track conversions and purchases.
How do I know if the conversion pixel is working? How can I test to make sure the conversion pixel is working?
- Please click here for instructions on how to validate pixel installation with your Mavrck Customer Implementation Manager.
Why am I seeing a 403 error when I test out the conversion pixel? Is there any way to prevent that 403 error?
- This 403 error is expected if you have not gone through a Mavrck tracking link. It is triggered by our third party click tracking partner, Clickmeter, when we fire a conversion event for a user that doesn't have the accompanying Mavrck cookie set. If you’d like to test out the pixel with a Mavrck tracking link, please notify your Customer Implementation Manager and they will send you a Mavrck tracking link to test with.
What is ClickMeter and what does Mavrck use it for?
- We use a third-party called ClickMeter to generate tracking links and then track clicks and conversions generated from those tracking links. There is no personal information about influencers nor customers stored in ClickMeter. The below articles published by ClickMeter contain more information about how they anonymize/protect their data:
What information is your team able to access once the pixel is installed on our site?
- Mavrck will only see the information passed through your conversion pixel parameters. (ex: conversion value). Through our use of ClickMeter we’ll also receive information such as anonymized IP address and the time and date the conversion was made.
How do I customize the purchase value parameter?
- The purchase value can be set up dynamically based on the cart value of a purchase or as one static value. Example: '{{ total_price | money_without_currency }}' or ‘45’, ‘23.88’
Note: If you do not plan to use this parameter please set it to ‘0.00’.
Our brand has three different sites, do we need three different pixels (one for each site?)
- If you want to track conversions on multiple sites or different types of conversions, you can use the "Conversion Parameter" to add additional information about the conversion (ex: conversion type based on page where pixel is installed - 'signup' for pixel on sign-up confirmation page and 'purchase' for pixel installed on checkout confirmation page). If you are tracking multiple conversion events in one campaign, our Mavrck team can pull a custom report on the parameters associated with all conversions tracked.
Note: If you do not plan to use this parameter please set it to empty ‘’.
Do we need to customize all parameters?
- No, parameters are outlined below - if you are not using a specific parameter, make sure to refer to the instructions below about how the parameter should be set up.
Value (Strongly Recommended): Can be set to a static value or dynamically based on the cart value of a purchase. Example: ‘45’, ‘23.88’ Note: If you do not plan to use this parameter please set it to ‘0.00’.
Commission Value (optional): Used in affiliate marketing scenarios where the Influencer driving the conversion is to receive a commission. This can be set dynamically or as a static value. Example: ‘5’, ‘5.50’ Note: If you do not plan to use this parameter please set it to ‘0’.
Conversion Parameter (optional): This can be used to add additional information about the conversion such as account numbers, discount codes or dynamic variables specific to the conversion. Example: ‘Winter2018Sale’. Note: If you do not plan to use this parameter please set it to empty ‘’.
If our brand has multiple sites and is using the same pixel, how do we identify which purchases are from which site?
- If you want to track conversions on multiple sites or different types of conversions, you can use the "Conversion Parameter" to add additional information about the conversion (ex: conversion type based on page where pixel is installed - 'signup' for pixel on sign-up confirmation page and 'purchase' for pixel installed on checkout confirmation page). If you are tracking multiple conversion events in one campaign, our Mavrck team can pull a custom report on the parameters associated with all conversions tracked.
Ex: Pixel installed twice on one site to track two different conversion types
How long does a user stay "cookied" by a Mavrck tracking link?
- The Mavrck cookie set lasts 90 days, meaning if a user clicks on a Mavrck tracking link we will be able to track if they make a purchase on that device for 90 days.
What does a Mavrck tracking link look like?
Tracking links generated by the Mavrck platform will include the following elements:
- Instance URL - You can verify your Instance URL by clicking into the Application tab for any of your campaigns. All application URL’s for your campaigns will include [instanceurl].mavrck.co.
- Mavrck domain - This will always appear “.mvk.co” in your tracking links.
- Unique influencer identifier - each influencer will have a different identifier populated to allow the platform to tie clicks and conversion to the specific influencers whose links drove the action.
