What is an API integration?
API stands for Application Programming Interface. In short, an API integration is a connection between different apps or products. API integrations are widespread and incredibly useful. Common API tools that you may already use in your day-to-day work include things like PayPal payments, Slack integrations, and single-sign-on services.
Most major social networks make their content available to marketing platforms and other collaborative tools by publishing their own API integrations.
Mavrck uses social network API integrations to enable influencers to authenticate their accounts with the platform, which in turn enables the platform to ingest their content and data from those networks.
Each social network defines and maintains its own API integrations, controlling what content is available. Social network APIs are continuously updated and the available data is subject to change by each network.

Mavrck is currently integrated with the Facebook Graph API, the Instagram Basic Display API, the beta version of the TikTok Creator Marketplace API, the Pinterest Analytics API, and the Twitter API.

What is a social app?
Social apps, in this context, are technical applications created using social network developer tools that connect the user experience of a product that is integrated with a social network, like Mavrck, to the social network itself.
Influencers interact with social apps directly when they authenticate their accounts for campaign applications and ongoing participation.
When an influencer authenticates their account, an "access token" is generated or refreshed, which supports the platform to ingest information from their account. The length of time that an access token lasts and the way that it is refreshed varies by each network, but a typical campaign will only require influencers to connect one time during the application process.
All programs must be connected to social apps to function properly.
What social apps does Mavrck use?
Apps are used for every network with an API integration. Mavrck is currently integrated with the Facebook Graph API, the Instagram Basic Display API, the beta version of the TikTok Creator Marketplace API, the Pinterest Analytics API, and the Twitter API.
All programs must be connected to at least Facebook and Instagram. All other networks are optional and can be disabled and hidden from influencer view.
How do social apps appear to influencers?
The influencer-facing label for each social network app is listed below. App labels are subject to change.
- Facebook: MAVRCK (Default) or Creator Content & Analytics
- Instagram: Creator Content & Analytics
- TikTok: Mavrck
- Pinterest: Mavrck Analytics (Default) or Creator Content & Analytics
- Twitter: Custom apps only
Can I customize my social apps?
Due to technical complexity and restrictions put in place by social networks, private-label options for social apps are limited, but a custom or non-branded option is available for each network, with the exception of TikTok which is still in a beta version. To activate influencers on Twitter, you must create a custom app. Reach out to your CSM to learn more about using Twitter.
Why do Instagram accounts use a Facebook app to connect?
Instagram Business accounts provide additional data and insights when connected with Mavrck using Meta's Graph API. Connecting an Instagram Business account through the Graph API requires a Facebook connection.
The Instagram Basic Display API is used for Instagram personal and Creator accounts and does not require a Facebook connection.
